The also design equipment for large-scale chemical manufacturing, plan and test methods of manufacture products, and supervise production. Out of 1.6 million engineers, chemical engineers hold 31,700 jobs. Jobs are expected to grow about average throughout the next decade. The chemical engineers holding only a bachelors degree earned $64,902 on average. The median of chemical engineers earned $84,680 annually. To get a license for chemical engineering you have to have a degree from an accredited engineering program, four years of relevant work experience, and a completion of a state exam. A professional society for chemical engineering is the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). The top three schools for chemical engineering are the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of California, Berkley, and the California Institute of Technology.
